About Barrier Island Bagels

Barrier Island Bagel's owners, Robert and Kalley have a long- standing connection to the Outer Banks. Kalley's grandfather lived in Duck, so she spent her summers with family in Duck until she was 12. They met in Maryland and when they got married, they chose the Outer Banks for their wedding site. After having their children in Maryland, they longed for more work and time freedom. They purchased Barrier Island Bagels from the original owners 15 days after buying their beach house and moving down. It was an extreme gamble on themselves to try out small business. Robert, a union electrician out of Washington DC, and Kalley, a Registered Nurse, had little to no restaurant experience. They then found a new home for the business in the former Argyle's building--where they had their wedding reception in 2011! BIB is both their leap of faith and a new chapter for their family. Every part of this business represents a personal connection for Robert and Kalley. They take pride in their building, their menu, and their connections with the staff and customers, their chosen family.

Voted the Best Brunch on the Beach, we can't wait to serve you soon!
